We found a house!

Jessy's Room Erika's Room Michael's Room

Living Room Kitchen Master Bedroom
This house is one level has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Yes, we will have a guest room, so start making your plans! The registration desk is now open! We live in Okinawa City about 15 minutes off Kadena Air Base. It is also close to Foster (the army base) where the swim team is located. Japanese houses do not have carpeting, so we will get some area rugs. The color you see is tile. They are very colorful and pretty. We now have to go to the housing office to get everything set up so we can move in. We have to check to see if our unaccompanied baggage has arrived. Also, they will furnish us with furniture, a refridgerator, and washing machine. Our house has a large covered carport area and covered patio area in back. Can't wait to spread out!

It sure looks like you have alot of room. Also lots of windows. It would be tough for Erika, Michael, and Jessy to go from having their own rooms in the US to sharing in Japan. I imagine you all are excited to be out of the one room apt. Cheers to you, now you have a home!

WOW!! The house looks so big, but it probably won't when you get some furniture in there. We are very happy that you got such a nice place so soon.

It is unusually large for a Japanese home. We were lucky to find such a nice home. But, some of it is that we don't have much competition. Many americans we talked to said, "No, you don't want that house! There's no dishwasher and no view. Keep looking." But we don't need a view of the ocean or a dishwasher. We wanted space and wanted to be in the community with Japanese, not at an apartment building with all American G.I.'s. Greg has an appointment with the housing office next week. I think we will get to move in maybe next weekend. More details to come. . .
