Hawaii Lighthouse

Jessy worn out after the mile and a half walk in the heat up (literally uphill the whole way) to the lighthouse. I'm not sure why he's the one that was tired!!
The rest of us had a snack (nectarines and water). A much needed boost.

The Makapu'u lighthouse is a cute, short lighthouse that sits on a bluff. We couldn't go in it, but could walk up to the tower. (After the hike, I wasn't terribly inclined to climb the final assent to get up to the tower, but I made it!)

Exploring the lighthouse grounds.

The view looking down. A clear reason the lighthouse is needed here.
Visiting lighthouses is an adventure, which is why we enjoy it so much. This one was no exception. This lighthouse is located close to Hanauma Bay, where we went snorkeling. We came here after spending half the day at the beach. We were already tired and drained from the sun and heat, but were all up for the challenge. I have to admit, we did not expect the mile and a half hike to be a climb, but I guess we should have been able to guess that. What beautiful landscape and the views as well as the lovely lighthouse were well worth the hike in the heat. Another one for the memory banks!
